The Wireless Power Consortium announced at CES 2023 that the Qi2 estándar, built on top of MagSafe, has evolved.

Using the presence at the fair, the Wireless Power Consortium made official upon arrival Qi2 wireless charging estándar (pronounced “chi two”), the evolution of the system we all know today, which will bring great benefits over the protocol currently in use.
The most destacable thing about this new estándar is It was developed based on Apple’s MagSafe technologypresent in the latest iPhone models.

Through a press releasethe WPC has taken note of this Qi2 is the global estándar for wireless charging from now on, and that the new technology will bring benefits to consumers.
MagSafe based, Qi2 introduces the system called Magnetic Power Profilewhich ensures that the device remains charged always aligned during charging to avoid power loss and increase efficiency.
Thanks to this, they are planned offer better upload speeds compared to Qi and minimize the negative impact on battery life or potential damage to the device being charged, be it a móvil, headset or smartwatch.
The WPC claims this is the case the first devices with the Qi2 estándar implantation that will hit the market towards the end of this year 2023. It is therefore expected that models like the iPhone 15 or the Google plus Pixel 8 could be among the first to integrate this system.
