We’ve known since the middle of last year that Google plus is working on its own alternative to Apple’s AirDrop; system of Transfer archivos between devicesthat we knew until not too long ago quick sharing.
We had no information regarding this feature, which will replace the already failed system. Android Ray based on NFC. But today, the people of XDA developer claims have been received new details about this archivo transfer system between Android and Google chrome OS deviceswhich would eventually come under the name Share nearby.
It allows you to send or receive archivos between devices up to 30 cm away
According to information collected XDA, Nearby Share emplees the devices’ Bluetooth technology to complete the pairing process. However, the data transmission takes place vía WLAN. It is therefore a system afín to the universal archivo transfer system developed in collaboration with Vivo, OPPO and Xiaomi.
The name change from Quick Share to Nearby Share seems to have taken place in connection with the find version v20.1.03whose code hides the clues that indicate this feature is coming soon.
Another confirmed fact is that to carry out data transfer Devices must be no more than 1 foot – 30 centimeters – apartand need both site on –except for the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection, of course–.
Beyond that, not many other details are known about this system. At the time we hoped this new feature would be ready by the release of Android 10 or the new Pixels, but ultimately it wasn’t. Maybe it will have to wait until the next Pixel Feature Drop, or maybe it will be in March, along with the –possible– the first beta of Android 11when Google plus detects the arrival of the Share nearby with Android devices.
