To mark its nine-year anniversary, OnePlus held an event where a number of important announcements were made. Including that their high-end will be cheaper from next year.
The state of the global mobile market is not at its best. Some brands, such as Samsung, have implemented cost-saving measures that not everyone likes. and it seems they won’t be the only ones. Some Chinese manufacturers will also take afín measures.
Like Collection from SamMobile, OnePlus held an event in China last Saturday to celebrate its 9th anniversary. During this event, the manufacturer made several important announcements, including the decision to cut costs, which are also reflected in the final prices for the usuario. But let’s take it easy.
OnePlus wants its high-end to be cheaper
One of the announcements at the event concerned a “strategic alliance” between OnePlus and OPPO. We don’t know how this might affect OnePlus as is a sub-brand of OPPO. The brand emplees the R&D resources, technology and factories of its parent company.
Most importantly, OnePlus revealed its future plans. In the next three years, OPPO invest around 1,430 million dollars by OnePlus. It’s not a very high number if we stick to industry estándar volumes, but it’s also defined that a roadmap is very clear.
According to this roadmap, OPPO will focus on manufacturing mid-range and entry-level devices and OnePlus will focus on the high-end. To make the phones cheaper, OnePlus has also publicly announced that its high-end terminals will go on sale offer a near zero profit margin. In return, they will also sintetiza their original mantra of selling their devices en línea.
However, from the above it is clear that they will have enough investments enough to continue to offer value for money with its excellent devices. However, the strategy could be questionable if we assume OnePlus will be going up against a high-end lineup largely dominated by Samsung and Apple. Both brands are a huge global presence and huge marketing budgets they will be difficult to fight against.
