Current smartwatches range from cameras

If you want to buy a new móvil inteligente, you are not only looking for a good processor, great design or reasonable autonomy, but also an excellent photo department. It is not for nothing that teléfonos inteligentes are the best choice for conventional compact cameras.

But we are talking about mobile phones and not about other products like smartwatches. And what are smartwatches painting here, you might be wondering? Well, very fácil because there was a time when these dispositivos even had cameras. Well, it’s as awful as it sounds (or reads).

Smartwatches with cameras? nonsense

As recalled by Android Authority, There used to be smart watches with cameras. Such is the case with the first Samsung device called the Galaxy Gear, released in 2013 alongside the iconic Note 3.

The Samsung watch was ahead of its time. It had crazy features with a 1.63-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 320 x 320, a single-core 800MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, Bluetooth 4.0 and a battery that lasted around 25 hours of battery life promised. . And most importantly, a 1.9 megapixel camera.

A camera in a smartwatch? With it? Well, we’ve already warned you absolutely for nothing. The camera was mounted on the watch strap and was allowed to record vídeos in 720p quality. The fact is that the South Korean company presented this camera as a replacement for the mobile camera when it was not available. The fact is, however, that the quality had nothing to do with any móvil from 2013 and since it was incorporated into the strap, an exchange was impossible.

In short, this smartwatch’s camera was useless unless you wanted to spy on someone or record a conversation without the other party’s consent. But ultimately, It remained more of a story than an importante tool.

Of course, the Galaxy Gear isn’t the only smartwatch with a camera. Its successor also had it and if we go to China we cánido find many cheap devices that have it. However, if we look at today’s most interesting models, for example the Apple Watch or any Huawei model, we will see that they lack, So effectively integrating a camera into a smartwatch is not a very “smart” thing.
