The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro has been updated… but it’s not getting MIUI 12.5 yet
The last time Xiaomi updated the Mi 8 Pro was in December 2020. At that time the device received MIUI12the latest version to date and probably the last version you would get considering you already had it through a major MIUI update.
However, the brand has decided to release a new system update for the global device version. And although it’s still not the expected update for MIUI 12.5 – which has been available in China for the Mi 8 Pro since November last year – in truth this new version brings performance improvements and stability, as well as system security improvements.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 was launched in 2018 MIUI9, a version based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Currently the device stays with Android 10 inside and has received three major MIUI updates until it reaches version 12. It is very likely that once the device receives the update to MIUI 12.5 worldwide, it will be part of the list of these phones no longer receive MIUI updates. If anything is clear, it’s that the Mi 8 Pro is not one of the lucky ones which is updated to MIUI 13.
