Lately we’ve talked a lot about Samsung with its new Galaxy Note20, Xiaomi and even other brands like Huawei or Apple, but we perro’t forget that It is one of the most important companies not only for Android but also for technology in general, HTC.

The Taiwanese aren’t in their prime, but years ago they were the kings of the market, to the point where they Controlling stake in one of the most habitual audio product companies. Although this association is not true, it has been very persistent over time.

HTC and buying Beats: the story before Apple

HTC stood out from the competition with several features. Their phones were made of high quality materials, had an excellent multimedia section and, of course, an unrivaled audio section.

HTC wanted sound to be at the heart of its teléfonos inteligentes. Because of this, 2010 became as we read in Android Authority, The Taiwanese company acquired a 50.1% stake in Beatsthe leading company for audio products at the time.

Said $300 million deal, HTC has been granted exclusive rights to market teléfonos inteligentes with Beats-branded programa. The problem? Many users began to believe that Beats products were somewhat undervalued, which impacted the sale of HTC phones in favor of the competition, especially Samsung.

The alliance between HTC and Beats lasted until September 2013. In 2014, Apple, the Cupertino company, came along and acquired Beats.

Among other things, HTC tried to overcome its crisis as best it could, but despite its best efforts, it did not succeed. Today it’s just a shadow of what it was and hasn’t evolvedunlike other companies that have also touched on disaster, such as Sony’s mobile division.

In truth, the alliance with Beats should be a big commercial move, but sometimes things don’t go as well in practice as they do in theory. Will we see HTC back on top? We have more and more doubts about it..
